Bristol Seafood Grill, a former fixture on the Country Club Plaza, will open its second Kansas City-area location in 8,000 square feet on 14th Street in downtown Kansas City.
The new Bristol Seafood Grill will be on the south side of 14th Street between Main and Walnut streets in the heart of the new Power & Light District, the city said in a news release Friday. Kansas City-based Houlihan's Restaurants Inc. owns and operates the Bristol and has a Bristol restaurant in Leawood.
The restaurant features fresh seafood flown in daily from both coasts. The downtown Bristol will have a "sophisticated urban design including dramatic high ceilings, an open display kitchen and outdoor seating surrounded by landscaping" the city said.
Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes said in the release that the restaurant is "a local institution."
Bristol Seafood Grill will be in an area of the Power & Light District called Restaurant Row, which will offer four high-end restaurants and a separate 10,000-square-foot private-party venue.
Houlihan's Restaurants also owns J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks in addition to its flagship Houlihan's restaurant concepts.
The Bristol will join previously announced tenants such as Cosentino's Downtown Gourmet Market, AMC Entertainment Inc.'s flagship arts movie theater in the Empire Theater building and a 3,000-seat live-music venue in the Midland Theatre.
The nine-block, $850 million Power & Light District will link the Convention Center, the Sprint Center, offices, hotels, entertainment, cultural destinations and residential developments, the city said. The mixed-use district will anchor $2 billion of development Downtown, including H&R Block Inc.'s new world headquarters.
