First P&L District tenants will open in November

The first two tenants in downtown Kansas City's Power & Light District will open in mid-November, developer The Cordish Co. said in a release Tuesday.

A 6,900-square-foot Irish-themed pub, McFadden's Sports Saloon, will open Nov. 9. A neighboring 6,000-square-foot Italian bistro, Vinino, will open Nov. 16. Both are on the ground floor of the district's Kansas City Live! block, which is across Grand Boulevard from Sprint Center arena.

The arena opens Oct. 13.

To celebrate the restaurant openings, Cordish will hold a block party inside the Kansas City Live! block on Nov. 21 and a University of Missouri football pep rally will be held on Nov. 23.

"We couldn't be happier that these two quality tenants have made the decision to capitalize on the momentum of downtown revitalization and their great location directly across from the soon-to-be-open Sprint Center and have their grand openings this fall," said Blake Cordish, vice president of The Cordish Co., said in a release. "This has been our strategy all along to slowly open tenants throughout the fall and into the winter, culminating in our 'grand opening' celebration in spring 2008."
